Spring Micro Trends!

ELLE has put together some professional's opinion about the next Spring Micro Trends!

VOLUME
“Sleek, flat hair is definitely out this spring. What we will be seeing instead is lots of volume in the form of big 40’s waves and Bardot inspiredboufants. Back-comb is key for creating a lot of height through the crown. Use a soft bristle brush and brush in one direction to avoid knotting.Accessorise with a dainty headband to keep it modern.”

Hair Stylist, Adam Reed

Group Exercise with Heart Rate Monitoring
“People are moving away from personal training, which can be very expensive, and are reverting back to group exercise. But group exercise is changing –heart rate monitors are the way forward. Each member wears one throughout the class, with the data from the belt projected on a screen for the instructor. This way they are able to make sure that each individual in the class are working within the parameters best for them. It’s a way of delivering a personalapproach in a group environment.”

Colour
“The Beauty Halls are full of the joys of spring at the moment and reflect the oncoming season’s obsession with colour. The juicy neon brights and candypastels that we saw so much of in fashion is just a striking for eyes, lips and nails. The new bronzers are peachy and are so easy to apply. Expect a riotof colour.”

Harrods General Beauty Merchandise Manager, Annalise Quest

 Pastel Nails
“Sherbet, zesty shades of lemons, dusty pinks, spearmint greens, soft peaches, sky blue and pale lilacs are really the only colours to be seen on nailsthis coming season. Take your inspiration from the Chanel and Louis Vuitton spring/summer shows. It’s a sweet and feminine palette which is best worn onshort, rounded nails.”

Mavala Nail Ambassador, Jenny Draper

 Jelly Lips
“The make-up look of the season is glossy, juicy, jelly-like lips. At the spring/summer Y-3 show in New York, I gave the girls a bold flash of intense pinkand layered it with a clear gloss for a juicy, wet finish. To make it wearable, keep the rest of your make-up subtle so that all the drama is played out onyour lips.”

Max Factor Global Creative Design Director, Pat McGrath

Classic Ingredients
“It’s all about revisiting classic ingredients but with modern skills and technologies like new distillation techniques. The time is right for a revival oflily of the valley scents. The elusive rich but delicate smell of lily of the valley seems to epitomise all that we are looking for in 2012. Lily of thevalley is feminine and mysterious, natural but with a touch of the exotic. Our old friend, aromatic tuberose is also seeing a resurgence in popularity. The2012 fragrance palette is simple but elegant floral freshness; classic but innovative.”
